I'm absolutely whacked out today. I didn't get home last night until 23:30 after giving a talk. I chatted until nearly 23:00 with one of the people there by my car, and I was chilled through. So it took me hours to warm up in bed, and until I did sleep wasn't very forthcoming. I finally gave up around 10:00 this morning and got up.
The last week hasn't been all that bad. It has taken time for the stress chemicals to leak away ... they still give me twinges of fear/panic, but it's nowhere as bad as it was. But I know I have a lot of work still to do to change my responses and to put strategies in place so I don't end up at the flight/fight/freeze stage again.
It's been a busy kind of week other than that. I've got a couple of bits of art on the go. Hopefully I'll get them finished today. I completed a commissioned piece of jewellery. I'll have another piece to alter to suit a customer this week. I also had my jewellery back from the Model House, Llantrisant and I was frankly amazed at the prices they'd put on them - no wonder why they didn't sell! But, I'd also forgotten what the pieces looked like and, well, I was amazed how pretty they looked to me and that I'd made them.
The archaeology booklet is nearing completion. The layout is complete. The words are in place. I have the glossary and contacts/websites to do. And my illustration. The new illustrator, Steve Cannon, is doing a fab job! His cartoony characters and illustrations are quirky enough to go with my quirky words (the person in charge of the project's words, not mine, but he's right!). It all has to be with the printer by the 27th of Feb ... and it will be!
The railway map is in its 7th incarnation - it's in pencil and I'm awaiting comments from the company secretary of the railway. Hopefully this one will be THE one and I can ink it in and watercolour it tomorrow. I think I'll have my way and have it in landscape format rather than portrait - it's how you view the railway when you arrive and while standing on the platforms. It also gives landscape to see - the mountains and so on ... something that isnt' there in the portrait version as it doesn't work for that. But I'll see what he says. I think I'll still ink in and paint this version even if I have to do a portrait version ... and let the board/members decide which is best.
It's gone cold again. It was milder this week, but I'm feeling chilled. I think I'll finish my drink and go and have a nice warm bath and then venture out to do some shopping for groceries, maybe. I'm not a fan of shopping of any kind (except when it involves beads/wire/threads/fabric/paints/paper/pens). I may just do a quick audit of the fridge/freezer/cupboards contents and leave it until tomorrow and get my head down to some art and writing.
